Statement of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the invasion of Ukraine
Members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina still have fresh memories of the four-year aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, terrible consequences of the country's destruction and the 1425-day siege of Sarajevo. As witnesses to the aggression, with still fresh images of the horrors of the war, we receive with concern the news of an unprovoked invasion and destruction of Ukraine. Aware of the consequences an aggression brings, ANUBiH members share the vision of living together in peace for all peoples in Europe and the world at large.
In these difficult times, scientists and their associations have a special responsibility to spread the truth. The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina joins the International Science Council (ISC) and All European Academies (ALLEA) in their statements on the invasion of Ukraine.
Members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina express solidarity with the Ukrainian people and especially with our fellow scientists.
The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on all relevant institutions to accept their responsibility and immediately stop the war and destruction in Ukraine, and to prevent the possible catastrophic consequences of the war in Ukraine on the countries of the Western Balkans.
